Event Navigation
Are you a teacher who likes the outdoors and wants ideas on how to incorporate the natural world into the curriculum?
Do you know an outstanding teacher who would like to learn more about conservation education?
MABC-SCI is looking for a teacher to sponsor at The American Wilderness Leadership School (AWLS) in Jackson, Wyoming. This is an eight day program which offers hands-on lessons focused around the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation. The teacher will take home engaging lessons on conservation education that have been integrated into K-12 math, science, language arts, social studies and physical education.
While at AWLS, educators learn to effectively use the outdoors as a classroom while participating in fun, exciting activities, including an introduction to shooting sports and a white water raft trip on the Snake River. All of which are taught by enthusiastic instructors that are experts in their fields.
Educators will enjoy presentations from dynamic guest speakers, meetings with biologists and land managers and participating in content-relevant field trips which provide “real world” experiences that teachers can take back and share with the students in their classrooms.
Participants may choose from one of six eight-day workshop sessions. A registration fee of $900 covers meals, lodging, and round trip ground transportation to and from the Jackson, Wyoming airport.
MABC-SCI offers tuition scholarships to area teachers interested in participating in this worthwhile event, a $900 value. To request a scholarship, contact our chapter president at president.mabc.sci@gmail.com.
